QfG4 Wyvern

Wyverns are flying creatures closely related to dragons. They are encountered in the Forest of Mordavia in Quest for Glory IV, as soon as the Hero ventures further away from the Town. Wyverns possess a pair of arms, wings, and a tail equipped with a venomous sting at the end. They appear only during the day.

Wyverns are relatives of Dragons. They are smaller and do not have hind legs. Their bodies are long and snake-like, the wings bat-like. They attack with their teeth, claws, and the poisonous sting at the end of their tail. Their poison can quickly weaken even the strongest Hero, so be sure to have a Poison Cure potion on hand.

Wyvern poison is far more dangerous than Badder poison, and can only be cured with a Poison Cure potion, or drinking the water from Erana's Garden.

Behind the scenes[]

Wyverns can be escaped, although you'd have to run for a couple of screens. It is preferable to do so, though, because they don't carry any loot and can easily sting the Hero in the beginning of the game (at which point you'd promptly have to find a poison cure potion, or to have one ready, because your health is still too small to survive the intoxication). During combat, the Wyvern throws fireballs at the Hero, but would sting only if you let it come close enough. Using ranged attacks (such as throwing daggers - you'll have to have good throwing skills - or casting magic spells) will keep it at a reasonable distance.
